It wasn’t until my own journey into motherhood that I first heard the term rainbow baby. Rainbow Baby is a fairly new term. However, the strong emotions associated with the experience have been around forever. As a Columbus Ohio family photographer, I have heard incredible stories of miracle babies bringing newfound joy to parents who have endured great pain. Rainbow Babies don’t erase the struggle, but they do offer hope. When I work with a Rainbow Baby, I am drawn to the parents.
Whenever I am posing the baby, all I can think about is how grateful they must be to have this perfect little human in their lives. That makes me even more appreciative and honored to be able to capture beautiful photos they will cherish forever.
Meet Lawson! Mom and Dad indicated on their questionnaire that Lawson was a rainbow baby and they would like that theme incorporated into some of the session. As a result, I was excited to use some of my new rainbow accessories.
This was the last pose of the session. He held that little rainbow perfectly!
For the rest of the session we did some holiday photos and shades of grey. He looked great in the soft grey romper. It is especially cute because of the plaid butt and sleepy hat. I love how this pose accents his chubby cheeks, for instance!
Next up, the Christmas sets. Lawson was one of my last newborns before Christmas, so I got out the holiday props. One of my favorite pieces is the new felt Santa that my assistant made. Not only is it cute, but he’s the perfect size for little newborn hands. Therefore it makes a great posing prop!
Welcome to the world, Lawson. You are so loved!
